AUTOart 1/18 scale composite model.
The legendary Lotus 72 was Team Lotus' F1 car, designed by Colin Chapman and Maurice Philippe.
It debuted at the 1970 Spanish Grand Prix and went on to win 20 races and three constructors' championships.
It was powered by a Ford Cosworth DFV 3-liter V8 engine mounted longitudinally in the mid-mounted aluminum monocoque chassis.
Its innovative design included an aerodynamically advantageous wedge-shaped body that placed the radiators inside the left and right sidepods instead of the front, as well as the use of torsion bars in the suspension and inboard brakes.
The updated 72E was introduced at the 1973 Spanish Grand Prix to comply with changes to regulations.
Ronnie Peterson, who joined Lotus that year, won four races, while Emerson Fittipaldi, who had become the youngest world champion at the time the previous year, won three. Although Team Lotus narrowly missed out on the Drivers' title, they won the 1973 Constructors' Championship.
The AutoArt Composite Model (patent pending) uses a proprietary blend of ABS for the body and die-cast for the inner body.
This completely new, innovative model car maximizes the benefits of each material, achieving high rigidity and a sense of weight comparable to die-cast models, while reproducing stunningly realistic, sharp body lines and allowing for more precise alignment and opening and closing of parts than die-cast bodies.
