Methylfolate is a naturally occurring, biologically active form of folate that is important for basic body functions such as normal cell division, neurotransmitter synthesis, and DNA synthesis.
Functional action:
Folic Acid, (Methyl Folate), Now Foods is the active form of folate. Methylfolate is involved in the basic functions of the body: it is involved in cell division, the synthesis of neurotransmitters and DNA necessary for the production of red blood cells, stimulates nerve transmission and is important for the proper development of the fetus.
Unlike regular folic acid, methylfolate, as research has shown, overcomes the blood-brain barrier and supports the healthy status of neurological organs. Quatrefolic is a patented form of methylfolate with bioavailability that exceeds the bioavailability of folic acid that enters our bodies from food sources.
Methylfolate is able to penetrate the blood-brain barrier and helps support neurological health. The conversion of folic acid into the Methylfolate form, which is better absorbed by the body than folic acid from food sources, occurs in the liver and gastrointestinal tract.
Methylated folic acid is used in the elimination of many health-related problems: in mood disorders (involved in the production of serotonin, melatonin, dopamine, adrenaline and norepinephrine);
supporting the normal development of the nervous system in the fetus.
