The pieces are Tendo Shogi pieces made in Tendo, Yamagata Prefecture. The font is the popular Genbei Kiyoyasu.
Onoore is a very hard wood grown in Japan, and its name comes from the fact that it is so hard that an axe will break. It also feels similar to boxwood when you strike a knives, and is a wood with a good feel when you use it.
The color of the shogi pieces is slightly darker than that of Siamese boxwood, but the color will develop a lustrous shine as you use them.
The bottom size of the komabukuro is about 8cm x 8cm, and the height is about 9cm. This is a cute Suzukado original komabukuro with an owl pattern.
