Its small, slim body hides incredible explosive power. The Combat Pencil Justine was born from a request by Evergreen USA staff member Justin Carr, and inspired by Toshifumi Kikumoto. Justin's requirements were for it to be elusive to sharp-eyed bass in clear water, leading to a bite. It needed to be particularly resistant to the fast, seemingly invisible bites of smallmouth bass, ensuring a reliable hookup. Kikumoto then added both casting ability and bass-attracting power to the bait. Its perfectly sized body and non-rattle design create a natural feel. The short slide action makes the quick, high-speed dog walk action even easier. The bait's darting movements trigger a bite, leaving no opening for the bass to see through it. And to overcome the weakness of small pencil baits that "there are many bites but they are easily blown away", we designed the weight to be larger than the body size.
