Five years later, in 2199. The Earth has been contaminated with radiation from a planetary bomb and is on the verge of extinction. The few survivors live underground, and among them is Susumu Kodai, who once fought as an ace pilot for the Earth military. Kodai was unable to recover from the sadness of losing his family to Garamis' attack and retired from the army.
One day, an unidentified object falls to Earth. It was a communication capsule released from the planet Iscandar, located 148,000 light years away, in the far reaches of the galaxy.
